The attorneys of KSGA&D possess an expertise in municipal and park district law gained through representation of various cities, villages, park districts and special districts since 1976. Legal services provided to these governments include representation as city, village, park district and fire protection district general counsel to agencies and associations of local government.The municipal legal tasks performed by the attorneys of KSGA&D run the gamut of those tasks required by local government, including but not limited to:
* Preparing ordinances and resolutions necessary for action by the municipality;
* Preparing contracts and other legal documents necessary for the operation of the municipality;
* Attending regular and special meetings of boards and commissioners for the purpose of advice and counsel to those boards and commissions during those meetings;
* Conducting litigation trails and appeals concerning defense of claims and prosecution of claims in state and federal courts and administrative agencies;
* Providing advice and counsel regarding employment matters including personnel policies, workers’ compensation, civil rights, employment discrimination, ADA compliance and labor contracts and negotiations thereof, LMLA compliance and FLSA compliance;
* Representing municipal agencies and officials during the conduct of hearings including liquor, police and fire, pension and others;
* Handling real estate acquisition ,matters including negotiation, documentation, closing, tax bonds, investment instruments and other investment options, and bond counsel services.
