There’s no reasoning involved here. The only thing we could/can do is retaliate. For those who fail to understand this, let me make it simple. An aggressor assaults you on the street. You can either fight back and try to survive or you can let him kill you. I choose to fight back. Unfortunately running away is not always an option.
