Mr. Angelides pressed Mr. Blankfein about selling securities tied to subprime mortgages while at the same time betting against them. Mr. Blankfein said he “really needs to explain this because the press swirling around this. Because the firm was accumulating positions, “we have to go out ourselves and source the other side of the transaction,” he said. He said there was no simultaneous selling of securities and then betting against them.

When most people think about political campaign strategies, they think about the dirty aspects. Political campaigns can be extremely cut-throat affairs as anyone familiar with American politics knows. What people don’t realize is that the mudslinging and ruthlessness is only one aspect. Political strategies involve a lot more than digging up dirt on your opponents.

Do you have any idea on how kids learn about and form opinions on American politics? During this Presidential election cycle, it was pointed out that the public opinion polls for adults matched closely with the many informal kid’s polls, conducted online and in classrooms across America. The obvious conclusion is that children are heavily influenced by what their parents have to say on which candidate is best.

I don’t know about you but I think there should be more than two major political parties. Politics in the U.S. seems to a zoo when the candidates spar with each other during their individual election campaigns. The candidates should more focused on what they (not the other candidate) will do if elected. I’m really sad that the focus of politics is on “cutting down the opponent” instead of “building up” the nation and the good of the people. I think our country would be better off if there were more than two major political parties.

The governor of Iowa wants to increase Iowa tourism by spending even more of our state’s overburdened budget. His idea to raise the deposit on bottles, include even more containers, and only return eighty percent of the deposit back to consumers failed miserably. The idea was seen as a scheme to collect more taxes from the citizens of this state in a way that wouldn’t be recognized as another tax. We saw through that, got the bill defeated, and in effect, decreased the amount of our money that he had to spend. The problem is that he doesn’t want to see that the money he had planned on isn’t there, he still wants to spend it anyway. There are many things our state needs such as road repair and he proposes to get the money for that one by raising registration fees and usage taxes. He has taken an increase in gas tax off the table, bad idea Chet. An increase in registration fees and use taxes would be paid entirely by citizens of the state, whereas an increase in fuel taxes would be paid by everyone that travels the states highways. This means that the countless number of semis that travel across our state would also end up paying for the wear and tear on our highways.

The West Central Iowa Tourism board loved having the first caucus in the nation. The campaigns bring some money into the state, but the thing they do best is bring free advertising to the state. With all the media coverage we get it is easy to showcase the state, most people don’t even understand that. The people watching the news coverage do not realize that they are actually having Iowa marketed to them. They sit and watch the TV blissfully unaware that they are getting subliminal pictures of the things we have to offer in this state.
The democrats seem to do a better job of being in the show places when they have their news conferences. It’s my opinion that they seem to enjoy a little tourism while they are on the trail, and who could blame them. Being on the road most all the time and doing the hard work of campaigning, who wouldn’t like even a short break seeing the sights. Our nation has lots to offer by points of interest and, remember, politicians are people too. If you had a chance to hold a rally in a parking lot or a beautiful historic building, which would you choose?

It’s party time in Iowa and you aren’t going to want to miss it! Iowa tourism should be flourishing until the 3rd of January when the caucus is held and then the candidates and most of their staff members will book out of the state to go try to convince some other state residents that their line of crap is the best line of crap out there!
Now Iowa tourism may be a term that most of the candidates and their staff would not believe they qualify to be placed with, after all, they are candidates, not tourists. Well, let’s see, they come in to the state, they stay in hotels, they eat at our restaurants, they buy gasoline for their cars which they drive from one corner of the state to the other. They visit museums, corn processing plants, city halls, ball games and more. They spend great amounts of money in the state and then, alas, they leave for another 4 years. I think that qualifies them as tourists.
Now, don’t get me wrong, we love having them here. Both the Demo crates and the Republicans are more than welcome to come to Iowa. They spend their money all over the state which helps with the Iowa tourism economy. In most cases they are polite, at least out in public, and they respect the citizens of Iowa (at least out in public). They are a wonderful addition to the normal tourist that visits the state, we would love to have them come and spend time here after the election, but you can bet your bottom dollar that a little bitty state like Iowa isn’t on the top of their “I need to go back there” list! Oh well, we’ll take what we can get.

The audio book ‘The Case Against Hillary Clinton’ shows an other side of the ex-First Lady who is a candidate for US President.
Publishers Weekly said about the book: “Noonan offers a searing analysis of what she sees as the emptiness of HRC’s political platform and the mountain of questions about her past that remain unanswered.”
Certainly worthwhile listening to, if you want to make yourself an image of who HRC really is. There are more audio books about Hillary Clinton, some pro, some contra. I’m currently listening to them all to be able to get a clearer image of who I should vote for….

The politics of motorcycle loans is incredible. Some lenders make buyers sacrifice for a higher interest rate due to bad credit motorcycle loan.
But if you have bad credit you do not have to get taken to the cleaners with a bunch of other fees. The above resource is one of the best resources I have found to help you get approved for a motorcycle with bad credit.Â

As there are more candidates every day announcing their candidacy for President, it’s more important than ever to make sure you know who you elect. Listening to the audio book ‘ Arkansas Mischief: The Birth of a National Scandal‘ might be a good way to refresh the memory.
I just finished this one…. makes you think if Hillary is really the best choice?? Now I’m listening to ‘People’s History of the United States‘. This audio book goes back a bit further, and it seems it will lead me right to the ‘War on Terrorism’ of these days. Compelling stuff, and the parallels to todays events is amazing! Definintely recommended listening!

Hillary Clinton announced on her website today that she will consider a presidential candidacy for 2008. This was to be expected and certainly brings drive to the Democrats battle to regain power.
In the audio book ‘The Case for Hillary Clinton‘, longtime political analyst Susan Estrich argues that no candidate even approaches the power and promise of Hillary Rodham Clinton , the senator from New York. Both a passionate spokesperson for progressive values and a strong advocate for our troops overseas, Clinton has used her time in the Senate to establish herself successfully as a genuine political powerhouse. And she offers Americans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to break the world’s most prominent glass ceiling and elect a female president of the United States.

No matter what office you may be running for, you may want to use campaign signs to get your name out there. When it’s time for the presidential election, you see campaign signs everywhere. They aren’t just for the highest office in the land – they can be used on a local level for just about any elected position. Campaign signs have proven to be very effective in the past.
