Time for Governments to Subsidise Anaerobic Digestion

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Anaerobic Digestion is a cinderella among waste treatment technologies, and yet it provides a unique method by which the fuel methane is produced. Methane is natural gas. It is hardly necessary to point out that natural gas is an incredibly useful green fuel with the advantages that it can be:-

  • made from waste, waste slurries etc (energy that is freely available and would othewise be wasted);
  • burnt easily to create electricity plus heat which can be used for example to heat a greenhouse;
  • converted to hydrogen which is a clean fuel and can be used in an hydrogen fuel cell;
  • is a fuel unaffected by oil price and thus provides price stability;
  • converted to a biofuel for cars such as bioethanol.

However, the technology needs further development before it can show its full potential.  Governments can and should assist do so visit this Anaerobic Digestion site here to learn more and help to get this technology into the mainstream.

Recent Political Debates Over Motorcycles & ATVs

Monday, August 13th, 2007

In recent years there have been many political debated on Capital Hill surrounding motorcycles and ATVs.  Thoese debates typically focus around saftey and sometime around import laws.

A more recent debate has been on the importation of Chinese ATVs and motorcycles.  See these ATVs do not meet the same saftey standards as their Japenese counterparts and they also offer no training.

Many times these Chinese atvs and motorcycles are being sold on the street which is a big different than the large motorcycle and atv dealers selling Japanese ATVs with motorcycle loans and ATV financing.

One thing is for sure these debates will continue as long as there is still percieved saftey issues with ATVs and motorcycles.

Public Policy and its implications for new job creation

Friday, August 10th, 2007

Are current policies promoted by the current democrat controlled congress creating a positive environment for entrepreneurship?  Entrepreneurs and small business are the driving force in new job creation in the United States.

Or will the current democrat congress drive new job creation to a halt and through their policies reduce the competitiveness of the US economy?  Will this result in even greater shifts in economic production to other countries?

Save the Rainforests - Explore the Tagua Nut Palm Ivory

Friday, August 10th, 2007

Everyone is concerned about the environment and the rainforests.  The environmental impact the rainforests of Central and South America have on the world is critical to sustaining our world.

There is a product that can be harvested from the rainforests that is more profitable than the banana plantations developers have been clearing the rainforests to plant. That product is the Tagua Palm which produces the nut which when dried is the same density and color as elephant ivory.

By using the natural products of the rainforests to generate income to sustain the rainforests and to provide income for the artists from the region we can stop the removal of the beauty of the rainforests.  We can provide the world with ivory that is as beautiful as the elephant ivory and yet is renewable.

These two artists are young men using these Tagua nut (vegetable ivory) are creating sculpture and jewelry that is just outstanding.  Look over the jewelry and sculptures they create and know that by taking a stand on this issue you are doing your part to help save the rainforests!

Grants For Single Parents

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

The US government offers financial support for single parents who have proven themselves unable to provide enough care for their children. The law acknowledges that single parents face responsibilities that are much more complicated than families with two parents, hence the provision for financial assistance. This way, the government takes part in reducing the pressures and hardships single parents face every single day.

Single parents are growing in number throughout the country and all over the world. In fact, with the rising trend toward woman empowerment, more females are opting to raise kids on their own than getting married (but that’s a different story).
